Chiranjeevi Needs A Jithu, But Caution Is Must!

Chiranjeevi needs fresh directors and stories

Chiranjeevi might be the most bankable star among the senior heroes of Telugu cinema. However, audiences expect much more from the versatile actor, who is regarded as a matinee idol. While he continues to enjoy tremendous box-office success, there are growing complaints about the lack of freshness in his film choices.

There is now a parallel discussion about Chiranjeevi exploring filmmakers with different approaches and being more open to fresh storytelling. Many believe he needs directors like Nelson Dilip Kumar and Jithu Madhavan, who can reinvent commercial cinema through fresh writing and unique filmmaking styles.

Nelson recently made Jailer 2, while Jithu Madhavan came up with Scene. Both films have their share of shortcomings, but they still offer enjoyable theatrical experiences. Their approach to commercial filmmaking has brought something different to the screen.

The biggest strength of these directors is their effort to reinvent commercial cinema with fresh ideas. This is one of the reasons audiences are increasingly showing interest in watching their films in theatres.

This is precisely what Chiranjeevi needs at this stage of his career. His repeated association with familiar filmmaking styles in recent years has not always brought out the best in his acting abilities. Working with directors who offer a fresh perspective could help audiences see a different side of the Megastar.

At the same time, certain commercial elements need to be carefully incorporated into a Chiranjeevi film. These requirements remain non-negotiable given his market and audience expectations. With the right balance, there is nothing wrong with Chiranjeevi experimenting with a director from another film industry.

At the end of the day, such an experiment would be no more of a risk than working with filmmakers like Srikanth Odela or Meher Ramesh.
