Ramayana has opened strongly in North America, collecting around $3.39 million on its premiere and opening day. The premiere shows alone contributed around $1.9 million.
Of the total, the USA contributed $2.671 million, while Canada accounted for another $719K. The Hindi version dominated the North American market with $3.28 million. The English version collected $61K, Telugu brought in $34K, Tamil earned $15K and Kannada added $571.
Including other foreign markets, Ramayana’s opening day overseas gross stood at around $5.45 million (Rs. 51.2 crores).
The film continued its strong run on Day 2 in North America, collecting around $2.28 million. This is the second-biggest Friday for an Indian film in the territory after Dhurandhar 2. With this, the two-day North America total has reached approximately $5.68 million.
These are impressive numbers. However, Ramayana has a huge recovery target. It needs around $30 million in North America just to break even. Its worldwide overseas target is also massive, with the film needing at least $65 million to avoid being considered a failure.
At the current pace, the opening is encouraging. But the real challenge is maintaining the momentum over the coming days and weeks. With such a high investment, Ramayana needs a long and steady run to meet its targets.
