Even though months have passed after the state division, the bifurcation scars just refuse to leave Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. A controversy props up every other day between both the states and the recent one is about the mistakes in the division of pension liabilities between Telangana and AP in the electricity department.
It is identified that according to the prescribed rules, the pension liability of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should have been Rs 1322.50 crore and Rs 1850.50 crore respectively. But mistake crept in and the pension liability allotted to TSGENCO and APGENCO is Rs 2330.57 crore and Rs 917 crore respectively.
The Telangana Electricity JAC alleges that there is an undue burden of Rs 1008.07 crore on Telangana as a result and this situation arose due to some officials of Andhra region who misrepresenting the facts and figures to benefit their home state. They allege that the pension liabilities were not divided on the population basis as prescribed by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.
