The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority is preparing for another major land auction, aiming to generate Rs 2500 crore. The move is driven by the need to fund multiple infrastructure projects and arrange Rs 2000 crore required for taking over Metro rail from L&T.
The HMDA plans to auction plots located in Uppal Bhagayat, Mokila, Lemooru, Turkayamjal, and HUDA Heights by the end of this month. In an earlier auction at Kokapet, the authority earned Rs 3862 crores, setting strong expectations for this round.
Officials believe substantial funds will be needed for key projects such as the radial roads phase 2, the trumpet flyover from Budwel to Kokapet, and the Shankarpally MGIT to Manikonda 3.57 kilometre pipeline road. Road widening works along Nanakramguda and the Gachibowli ORR stretch are also planned.
Additional funding is required for a 9 km elevated corridor from Banjara Hills to Silpa Layout and an 18 km elevated corridor between JBS and Shamirpet. Elevated road projects between Paradise and Bowenpally are also part of the development plan.
In Greater Hyderabad limits, government owned lands have been auctioned after developing layouts. As part of this process, plots in Uppal Bhagayat, Mokila, Inkulnarwa, Lemooru, and Turkayamjal were sold earlier. The upcoming auction includes 41 plots in Uppal Bhagayat, 12 in Turkayamjal, 719 in Mokila, 164 in Lemooru, and 37 in HUDA Heights.
