Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has established HYDRAA ( Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) to provide a broad range of services to citizens in line with Hyderabad’s rapid expansion.
Senior IPS Officer Ranganath leads HYDRA, which includes a team of over 250 personnel, comprising three SP-ranked officers, three DSPs, 21 Inspectors, and 33 Sub-Inspectors. Ranganath began his work even before HYDRA was fully operational, acting decisively in line with the Chief Minister’s vision.
A notable incident involved Khairatabad MLA Daanam Nagender, who attempted to assert his dominance over Ranganath concerning demolitions. However, this backfired as Daanam faced a police case for obstructing HYDRA’s duties.
Revanth Reddy is signaling his commitment to public services by standing firm on this issue. Despite being the Chief Minister from a national party, Revanth is navigating various pressures and is determined to make a mark on Hyderabad’s governance.
HYDRA will play a pivotal role in addressing illegal constructions and encroachments in the city, which have long contributed to issues like poor drainage and flooding, especially during even minimal rainfall.
By effectively tackling these problems, Revanth aims to showcase his governance style to Hyderabad’s residents. As Hyderabad faces upcoming GHMC elections, Revanth is using HYDRA as a tool to gain political advantage and strengthen the Congress party’s position in the city.
