In a major move to control the law and order situation in the city, the government of Telangana ordered commercial establishments in the city to shut down by 10.30 pm every day.
The Hyderabad police issued the orders keeping in view the recent crimes happening in the city during late hours. The decision has been taken after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed the law and order situation in the city.

The cops have also asked people not to offer rides to people who wander suspiciously on roads during the late hours. People who consume alcohol in public places will also face strict action.
This is a serious hit to the nightlife in the city as many people these days prefer going out and having dinner in the late hours.

The decision is receiving a mixed response. Especially, businessmen who depend on late-night businesses and IT employees who work during night shifts are criticizing this move.
Few people opined that many tourists hang out at Charminar and other prominent places in the city during late hours, boosting the businesses over there.

Businessmen stated that the government should control the crime rate in the state but not at the cost of affecting businesses of people. They requested the government to extend the closing time to midnight.
IT employees stated that many people who work nightshift have their food late-night at roadside food stalls. Closing such establishments at 10.30 pm would trouble lots of working individuals at midnight.
It has to be seen if the government considers these requests or sticks to its decision.
Latest Update:
The recent social media news making rounds that city police are closing shops by 10.30 or 11 pm are totally misleading.
The shops and establishments will open/close as per the already existing rules only.
Hence the same may be noted by all.
