Infosys Rejects Narayana Murthy 70-Hours Theory

Infosys has issued fresh directives to its employees. It has sent emails to its employees regarding work-life balance. It has clearly asked its employees not to work extra hours.

This is in sharp contrast to Infosys founder Narayana Murthy’s earlier comments about 70-hour work week. At the time, he also said that he didn’t believe in work-life balance.

Now, Infosys has taken a U-turn and asked its employees to take care of their health. Infosys is one of the biggest tech companies in India. It employs 3.23 lakh people. Since 2023 November, the company started hybrid work model for its employees.

The employees are expected to attend office for 10 days. Well, the company has found that many employees were having sleep and eating disorders. Many were found to be suffering from heart problems. Hence, the HR is telling the employees to take care of their health.

At Infosys, an employee will have to put in 9.15 hours for 5 days. The company has asked its employees, especially those who work remotely, to look after their health. They have asked them not to work extra hours. They are also telling employees to take rest immediately after work.

The netizens feel Narayanamurthy seems to have realised that a healthy workforce is vital for company’s growth.
