The Indian School of Business (ISB) is celebrating twenty years of its existence today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be taking part in the institute’s 20th-anniversary fete.
The Indian School of Business (ISB) evolved from the need for a world-class business school in Asia. The founders, some of the best minds from the corporate and academic world have come together to start it in Hyderabad in 2001.
But then, Hyderabad did not get it easily.
Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad were the preferred locations (in that order) for Rajat Gupta, Anil Ambani, Jamshed Godrej, and Professor Bala who were entrusted the responsibility of finalizing the location. But Naidu turned the tables for Hyderabad.
While the team is in favor of Mumbai for obvious reasons, Naidu invited them for a breakfast meeting. His ministers were sent to the airport to receive the ISB team.
Naidu himself made a presentation to the team and also offered many incentives and 250 acres in Gachibowli at a throwaway price of 25,000 Rupees per acre.
Just before they leave the table, he told them – ‘since you will be visiting other States, whatever they offer, please let me know. If they offer X, I will make it X+1′.
Naidu would also call each member of the Executive Board personally, and send them letters.
The government also gave single-window access for all clearances.
ISB today is one of the premier landmarks of Hyderabad and even the country.
The proactiveness of Naidu had turned barren land into a vibrant campus and Hyderabad into a buzzing business destination on the World map.
