The Telangana Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has dismissed the disqualification petition against Jagityal MLA Sanjay Kumar. The petitions were filed by BRS MLA Jagdeesh Reddy. The decision brings temporary relief to Sanjay Kumar amid ongoing political uncertainty in the state.
The Speaker observed that there were insufficient grounds to prove that Sanjay Kumar had defected from his party. Including this case, disqualification petitions against eight MLAs have been dismissed so far. The cases involving Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender have been deferred to February 19.
Reacting to the decision, Jagityal MLA Sanjay Kumar expressed happiness and maintained that he never left the BRS. He stated that Rs 5000 continues to be deducted from his salary towards the BRS fund, which he cited as proof of loyalty.
Meanwhile, MLA Vivekananda Goud demanded that Kadiyam Srihari openly admit his association with the Congress before the Speaker. He alleged that Srihari joined the party after meeting Rahul Gandhi. Vivekananda Goud dismissed the episode as a political charade.
Danam Nagender has also taken a U-turn and now claims allegiance to the BRS after earlier stating he was with the Congress. At present, both Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender insist they remain in the BRS.
Political analysts believe Congress is reluctant to trigger by elections. This hesitation is being cited as a key reason behind defectors retreating to their original party positions, keeping the political situation fluid for now.
