Jubilee Hills: Candidates Target Temple Devotees

Candidates campaign in temples Jubilee Hills

With the by-election nearing, Jubilee Hills candidates are pushing hard to reach every voter base. They are visiting temples, churches and mosques, trying to maximise support in the final days of campaigning.

Karthika month has led to heavy temple crowds, especially at Lord Shiva temples. Candidates from major parties are taking advantage of this footfall. They have been distributing prasadam and requesting blessings and votes. On the first Karthika Monday, both Congress and BRS candidates performed special pujas throughout the day.

One candidate is reportedly arranging an akhanda deeparadhana on Karthika Pournami and also hosting Karthika vanabhojanalu. Another organised a bhajan programme where his name will be announced between bhajans, avoiding party reference to stay within election rules.

Many devotees have taken Ayyappa deeksha this month. One candidate attended a puja, interacted with the devotees and even checked how many planned to leave for Sabarimala on election day, November 11. He convinced 22 devotees to cancel train bookings and promised to send them by bus after the polls.

Alongside temple visits, candidates are also meeting pastors and visiting masjids to connect with voters and seek support. They are listening to concerns and asking for blessings from each religious group.

They even visited the Rahmatnagar Gurudwara, where around 6,000 Sikh voters reside. Candidates joined celebrations there for three days as part of their outreach efforts.
