Telangana Government is depending on the sale of lands for its massive welfare programs which can not be even funded by the surplus budget state. The United Andhra Pradesh government had given 32-acre land in Ravindra Nagar for English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) campus. Currently, Eflu has around 2,500 students. Its annual intake of applicants from across the country is about 728.
It is known that the state government is asking the Central government to vacate the land and shift the campus to Bhoodanpochampally in Nalgonda district. The Union HRD Ministry is surprised with this request as such shift will defeat the very purpose of the institution. The university has many international students and the urban environs of Hyderabad who will find it difficult leaving Hyderabad and settling in a remote village of Nalgonda.
