Kerala Demands Center To Reimburse Foreign-Aid

Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Kerala Government is seething in anger on the Central Government for refusing the 700 Crore foreign-aid offered by the United Arab Emirates. The Union Government turned down the aid saying that it has been a policy since 2004 to refuse foreign-aids for natural calamities.

But Kerala Government is not happy. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan clarified that he will meet the Prime Minister and ask him to reconsider the government decision. In case, the center sticks to its stand, the state government demands GoI to match the foreign-aids.

UAE has offered 700 Crore which is higher than what GoI has given for Kerala so far (600 Crore). Qatar has offered another 35 Crore and the Maldives announced 35 Lakhs to help Kerala get to its feet after being battered by Never Before Floods.
