After losing power, the YSR Congress Party is losing steam in Andhra Pradesh as many of its leaders, from the lower to the higher level, are switching to the ruling parties TDP, Janasena and BJP.
According to the latest reports, YSRCP Rajyasabha MP Mopidevi Venkata Ramana is set to bid goodbye to the party.
Mopidevi already expressed his disappointment with the party’s functioning last year, saying that he is working against his conscience.
Now, Mopidevi has reportedly decided to leave the YSRCP and join the Telugu Desam Party. Reportedly, he will submit his resignation to the party tomorrow.
Mopidevi’s displeasure with the party and YS Jagan’s way of working began when he was sidelined from the Repalle In-charge post. YS Jagan picked Evuru Ganesh over Mopidevi Venkata Ramana during the election time.
Mopidevi was the former cabinet minister under Kiran Kumar Reddy before forming two separate Telugu states. He served as the Ports, Infrastructure, and Investments minister under Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
He was elected in 1999 and 2004 from Kuchinapudi Assembly. In 2009, he was elected from the Repalle constituency. He lost in the 2014 and 2019 elections in Repalle. He was later elected to Rajyasabha from Andhra Pradesh in 2020 from YSRCP.
