The viral video featured a front-camera, selfie-style format explicitly tailored to engage Gen Z and younger demographics amidst widespread student protests over competitive exam paper leaks.

Commencing his address with “Friends,” the Prime Minister outlined the Union Cabinet’s approval of stringent legal measures, including fast-track courts, up to 10 years in prison, and fines reaching ₹10 crore for individuals involved in paper leaks and exam malpractices.

The informal delivery triggered a wave of reaction reels and widespread social media engagement across multiple platforms.

Following the digital response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a follow-up video thanking students for their feedback and constructive suggestions regarding examination governance. He also advised his Cabinet ministers to maintain an active digital presence and connect directly with young citizens on social media platforms.

The episode highlights a calculated shift in political communication, moving toward direct, short-form digital engagement to address major policy decisions and public concerns.
