New Aadhaar QR Design Boosts Privacy, Past Data Still A Concern

New Aadhaar QR card design

The Aadhaar card may soon come in a new format where only the photo and a QR code are printed. Details like name, address, date of birth and Aadhaar number may no longer appear openly on the card. This change is being planned by the Unique Identification Authority of India to improve privacy and reduce misuse of personal data.

Right now, most people have already submitted Aadhaar photocopies at hotels, banks, offices and other places. Many of those copies are still stored in files. If handled carelessly, they can be misused. The new design cannot erase those old records, so past risks may still remain.

However, going forward, the new Aadhaar format can improve security. Since personal details will not be printed openly, even if someone takes a photocopy, they cannot easily see full information. All details will be stored securely inside the QR code and can be accessed only through proper digital verification.

This move can strengthen privacy and reduce future identity misuse. At the same time, people and institutions must handle data responsibly. The new card design is a positive step, but real security depends on how carefully information is managed everywhere.
