After assuming power in Telangana, the Congress government has been making some big changes. Already, the state’s code has been changed from “TS” to “TG”.
Jaya Jayahe Telangana, composed by Ande Sri, has been given the status of ‘state song’. The song, composed by MM Keeravani, will be unveiled on June 2, on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day.
The Revanth Reddy-led government also decided to change the state’s emblem. Renowned artist, Rudra Rajesham, has been given the responsibility of designing the new emblem.
Rajesham has been holding discussions with Revanth Reddy for the last few days and both of them shortlisted a few designs. Meanwhile, a new design of the emblem is circulating on social media, presumably the final decided one.
This emblem features the Telangana Martyr’s Stupa, representing the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the separate state, alongside the Indian emblem. The government’s name is written in four languages: Telugu, Urdu, English, and Hindi.
The previous emblem featured the Charminar, Kakatiya Thoranam, and the Indian emblem, with the government’s name written in three languages: Telugu, Urdu, and English.
Meanwhile, the opposition BRS party has been opposing the idea of changing the emblem. They argued that the Charminar and Kakatiya Thoranam are cultural representations of Telangana.
They also announced that they would soon file a petition in the High Court, against the Congress government’s decision to change the emblem.
