Nitish Kumar To Be CM For 10th Time: Bihar

Nitish Kumar takes oath as CM

Nitish Kumar, chief of JDU which won 85 seats in Bihar, will be sworn in as the CM for the 10th time. The party finished just four seats behind its ally BJP, which won 89 seats. The ceremony will mark a major political milestone for the state.

The swearing in will take place on Thursday, November 20 at Gandhi Maidan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend along with Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath, Chirag Paswan and other NDA leaders. A Deputy CM will also take oath on the same day.

Gandhi Maidan will stay closed from November 17 to 20 to prepare for the event. BJP will get 16 Cabinet berths and JDU will get 14 along with the CM post. Chirag Paswan’s party will receive 3 berths, while HAM(S) and RLM will get 1 berth each.

Nitish Kumar was chosen by NDA legislators in the presence of senior BJP leaders. He has been CM since 2015 after earlier short terms in 2000, 2005 and 2014. He remains the longest serving CM of Bihar, and this marks his 10th term.
