The YSRCP is facing a challenge in finding a suitable candidate for the Kakinada MP seat, and it has become a headache for the party. The leadership’s decision to move the current MP, Vanga Geetha, to Pithapuram Assembly has created a dilemma as potential candidates are unwilling to step into the ring, anticipating a visible defeat.
The plan to replace MLAs in Prathipadu, Jaggampeta, and Pithapuram due to the fear of defeat has further complicated the situation. The party intended to introduce new leaders in these constituencies. However, the decision to give the ticket to Vanga Geetha in place of Pendem Dorababu has not been well-received.
Initially, the YSRCP considered Chalamalasetty Sunil, who contested as Kakinada MP in 2014 and lost, as a replacement for Geetha. However, Sunil declined, stating that he is no longer interested in contesting from Kakinada after consecutive defeats.
Former Minister Kannababu was also suggested as a candidate, but he expressed reluctance. The YSRCP leadership is currently facing a dilemma as they struggle to find a willing and suitable candidate for the Kakinada MP seat.
