Today marks the one month of Chandrababu Naidu in Power. Exactly on the same day in June, Chandrababu took oath as the Chief Minister for the fourth time.
Naidu repeatedly promised to showcase ‘CBN 4.O’ which will be a redux of the Chandrababu Naidu of 1996.
Chandrababu eradicated the ‘Jagan culture’ completely immediately after coming to Power. When going out, there are no Paradas on either side of the roads, no cutting of trees, no shutting of shops, etc making the Chief Minister closer to the people.
The biggest highlight of this month is Naidu immediately fulfilling the promise of giving the increased pensions and arrears.
Along with fulfilling the promise, Naidu also scored a big political point by distributing the pensions without volunteers in just one day. He also added a Human touch to the scheme by distributing the pensions himself in Penumaka, Mangalagiri constituency.
Despite many financial issues, Naidu is also taking steps to fulfill other promises like Thalli Ki Vandhanam, Anna Canteens, etc.
He also signed the files to fill 16,347 teacher posts through a mega DSC and repealed the draconian Land Titling Act,
People voted out Jagan for the reason he ignored development completely in the name of Freebies.
Naidu is not making the mistake. In this very short period, we have seen him negotiate for projects like BPCL Refinery, VinFast EV and battery manufacturing plant, etc. He is also trying to revive the closed Ashok Leyland Plant in the Mallavalli Industrial Corridor.
The Free Sandy Policy is also making the End-beneficiaries super happy and has also given a fillip to the construction sector.
The Chief Minister also restarted the Amaravati and Polavaram Project making people happy. He already made tours to Amaravati, the Polavaram Project Site, and the Polavaram Left Canal. Chandrababu released White Papers on Amaravati, Polavaram, and the Power Sector.
Chandrababu is also being practical these days. He did not give a concrete date for any of these projects indicating that there can be no Hit and Miss business this time.
Along with Naidu, the MLAs are doing a good job as well. Nara Lokesh himself is leading the front by being always available to the people. Especially the everyday Praja Darbar is a big hit. Also, the way how the Minister responded to a WhatsApp problem and resolved the issue of disabled students won hearts.
Minister Gottipati Ravi solved a three-year-old problem for a poor farmer in three hours and got applause from the people.
MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy and Incharges like Gottipati Lakshmi were appreciated for always being available to the people and helping them in every way.
On the flip side, there are a few misses as well.
Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy’s wife Haritha berating a Police officer on duty got nationwide bad press. It’s good that Chandrababu reprimanded the couple but it should not have happened in the first place.
There are complaints from the cadre that some officials who troubled the TDP cadre at the behest of the YSR Congress leaders are still being continued in the new Government. Some of those complaints are addressed and some are still not.
The cadre is also impatient about the non-implementation of the Red Book but then, it is just one month so far.
The attack on the Deccan Chronicle office should not have happened but then, Chandrababu dealt with it very well by bringing the Union Steel Minister the very next day and making him condemn YSR Congress’s Propaganda on Privatization.
Along with the bumper majority in the elections, Naidu is also lucky that the Central Government in Delhi is dependent on the Sixteen TDP MPs in Andhra Pradesh. Despite the advantage, he did not press for Cabinet berths and is trying to squeeze some assistance for the state. If that happens in the Union Cabinet, it will be of big help.
All in all, Chandrababu’s one-month tenure is a big hit. There are a couple of misses but they are definitely addressable.
