The recent political developments in Telangana have stirred up quite a buzz, as a significant number of politicians from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have joined the Congress party just ahead of the assembly elections.
This unexpected shift in political affiliations has left many intrigued and speculating about the possible implications for the upcoming polls.
Congress Party’s star campaigner, MP Komatiretty Venkata Reddy, actively participated in a TV debate recently. During this debate, Reddy was candidly asked about his perspective on politicians from other parties joining the Congress just before the elections.
In a refreshing display of honesty and directness, Reddy admitted that while the new entrants might boost the Congress’s prospects in the short term, their loyalty could never be trusted. He articulated a simple yet profound truth – that in the world of politics, where numbers matter, politicians often gravitate toward power.
He confessed that if the Congress party doesn’t get the majority of seats and if they win even 59 seats (one less than the majority number of 60) then also these people who joined the party at the last minute will be the first ones to jump away from the party. He said KCR known for encouraging defections will empty their party.
This statement, delivered with utmost clarity was well-received by the five editors present during the debate. Reddy’s open acknowledgment of the practical reality of politics struck a chord with many.
Furthermore, Reddy went on to emphasize that in his party the positions of Chief Minister and MLA are seen as equals. In this system, the Chief Minister’s role is not predetermined but instead depends on the support of the winning MLAs.
