Ramba Oorvasi Menaka: Will Controversy Boost Collections?

Ramba Oorvasi Menaka clears censor hurdle

Allari Naresh’s Ramba Oorvasi Menaka has finally cleared a last-minute hurdle before its September 4 release. The comedy film had faced censor trouble over the way Hindu gods and characters were shown.

The Censor Board reportedly raised objections to the costumes of Ramba, Oorvasi, and Menaka. The revealing outfits were said to be one of the main concerns. There were also objections to Vennela Kishore’s portrayal of Indra. His character is reportedly shown in a caricaturish and exaggerated way just for some laughs, which did not go well with the censor authorities.

The issue created uncertainty just days before the release. There was even a possibility that the film could be postponed.

That worry is now over.

The makers have made the required changes and received a U/A certificate. Ramba Oorvasi Menaka will now release as planned on September 4.

The film is directed by Chandra Mohan Chintada. Surabhi plays the main female lead, while Raashi Singh, Vishnu Priya, and Prisha Singh play Ramba, Oorvasi, and Menaka. Srinivasa Reddy, Vennela Kishore, and others are also part of the cast.

Annapurna Studios and Hasya Movies have jointly produced the film.

Interestingly, the censor controversy has also created some extra curiosity around the movie. The trailer had already created decent buzz with its comedy-based story. Now, the real test begins in theatres.

After clearing the censor hurdle with a U/A certificate, Ramba Oorvasi Menaka has its release date safe. Now, the makers have to prove that all the controversy was worth it.

The censor battle is over. The box-office battle begins on September 4.
