Padma Sri Awards: Actual Caste Numbers Say A Different Story

Padma Sri awards controversy

Actors Rajendra Prasad and Murali Mohan getting Padma Sri has become an ugly political topic in Telugu Politics.

It is a common practice to shoot the Telugu Desam Party from the shoulders of the Kamma community and this is just another opportunity.

The Social Media teams of YSR Congress and the BRS are on overdrive with this propaganda.

A section of the Supporters of Janasena are also in it because of Caste Rivalry. They even go to the extent of calling Padma Sri as Kamma Sri.

But then, there is something very interesting.

From Andhra Pradesh, five eminent personalities got Padma Awards. Three among those are from the Brahmin Community.

In Telangana, eight eminent personalities got Padma Awards, three among those are from the Reddy Community.

In total if we see, thirteen personalities from both the Telugu States got these awards.

In those, there are five Brahmins, three Reddys, Two Kammas, and the remaining belong to other communities.

Even then, the Propagandists call them Kamma Sri Awards and cry foul that all the awards are going to one community.

There is no outcry on the other communities but the target is only the Kamma Community because of Political leaders.

If Chandrababu Naidu Government is behind the Padma awards for two Kammas, it is the same government that is behind the Padma awards for three Brahmins.

It is unfortunate that we had to divide these personalities on the basis of caste, but if that is not done, these propagandists will continue to divide the society in the name of caste.

They further bring comparisons like why not SV Ranga Rao and why Murali Mohan etc.

NT Ramarao was only given Padma Sri, but Akkineni Nageswara Rao was given Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

Even Chiranjeevi also got Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

There is no end to such debates if we dissect everything in the name of caste.
