In a major escalation of the ongoing legal crackdown on digital content creators in Andhra Pradesh, controversial YouTuber Bachalakuri Joseph, popularly known as “Prashna Ravan,” has been booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Following multiple dynamic arrests over his provocative critique of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the latest enforcement action marks his fifth arrest within a span of just five days.
The critical shift in the nature of the charges follows a formal complaint lodged by a local Jana Sena leader at the Gannavaram Police Station.
The prosecution states that Ravan’s massive digital archive of over 5,100 YouTube videos goes far beyond standard political criticism, alleging that he systematically weaponised his platform to propagate extremist ideologies and glorify the actions of the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist organization.
According to the first information report, the content creator is accused of explicitly instigating the public, particularly impressionable youth, to support armed rebellion against the State, directly threatening the sovereign unity and integrity of the country.
Following extensive and high-voltage legal arguments that stretched late into the evening at the local court, the presiding judicial officer rejected defense arguments claiming the footage was artificially simulated.
The court has officially remanded Prashna Ravan into heavy judicial custody. Under tight police cordons deployed to prevent potential retaliatory clashes between political factions outside the complex, authorities have finalized administrative protocols to transfer the accused directly to the Nellore Central Jail for the duration of his formal remand period.
