Pulivendula ZPTC election polling will take place tomorrow. In the past five ZPTC elections here, all contests were unanimous as opponents could not file nominations. This is the first time an election is actually being held.
Both ruling and opposition parties have been campaigning intensely for several days. YSR Congress appears uneasy and has accused the government of not ensuring a free and fair election.
Last night, Jagan Mohan Reddy posted a long message on X alleging that the government misused power. Today, he moved the AP High Court with a House Motion Petition claiming polling booths were changed to reduce voter turnout.
The timing raises questions about why Jagan approached the court less than 24 hours before polling. In politics, it is often seen that the side fearing defeat tends to make such last-minute moves.
MP Avinash Reddy, who is managing the YSR Congress campaign in Pulivendula, accused TDP leaders of distributing money in Kothapalli, Nallapareddypalli and Nallagonduvaripalli. This only fuels speculation that YSR Congress may be on the back foot.
TDP in-charge B Tech Ravi’s wife Marreddy Latha Reddy is the party’s candidate, while Tummala Hemanth Reddy is contesting for YSR Congress. TDP is putting in all efforts to secure a win.
B Tech Ravi, Adinarayana Reddy and MLC Bhumireddy Ram Gopal Reddy are stationed in Pulivendula for campaigning. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is personally supervising the party’s efforts.
A TDP win in Jagan’s stronghold would be a huge morale blow to YSR Congress, which is still recovering from its 2024 election loss. Another defeat could further weaken the party’s standing.
There are 10,601 voters in the Pulivendula ZPTC constituency. Both parties are bringing in voters working in other states. The Election Commission has declared all polling stations here as problematic.
