Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose was a YSR’s close aide. He was one of the leaders who traveled with Jagan very early. He resigned as the Minister and faced By-election to help Jagan. Ramachandrapuram is the constituency of Pilli but he shifted to Mandapeta as Jagan insisted but he lost.
Chelluboina Venu contested from Ramachandrapuram and won in 2019. Pilli wants the Ramachandrapuram ticket for his son, Surya Prakash but Jagan confirmed the 2024 ticket to Venu once again and this has angered Pilli.
Pilli was made an MLC after the 2019 defeat. He was asked to resign as Jagan wanted to dissolve the council. He was made a Rajya Sabha member. Once he was nominated, Pilli slowly lost grip on East Godavari politics.
Now, he can not digest the fact his own son is being denied a ticket. Rumors in East Godavari are that Pilli will resign as MP and even put his son as independent in 2024 if Jagan does not change his opinion.
Bose is the Regional Coordinator for Godavari districts. But he skipped Party review meetings of the Kakinada and Konaseema districts even though he is available locally to register a protest.
Pilli first won as the Congress candidate from Ramachandrapuram in 1989. He later won twice in 2004 and 2009. Interestingly, he won in 2004 as an Independent only. He faced competition in the constituency with the emergence of Thota Trimurthulu who became MLA four times after 1989.
Pilli and Thota, the stalwarts of the constituency were in YSR Congress giving a big advantage to the party. But it could be trouble for the party if Pilli’s son turns rebel.
