Revanth Reddy becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana was a significant political development for Andhra Pradesh as well.
Jagan Mohan Reddy kickstarted a wrong precedent in 2019 by involving the Telangana Chief Minister in the Andhra Pradesh Elections. Back then, it was an open secret that KCR stopped all the funding to TDP from Hyderabad during the elections.
There were also reports that KCR fixed some TDP leaders instilling fear in them about their assets and dealings in Hyderabad.
That has become a huge advantage for the YSR Congress in the elections and later, we saw Jagan reciprocating that by giving by AP buildings in the Hyderabad Secretariat unconditionally. AP Government also stopped pursuing its rightful share in the common assets located in Hyderabad.
Jagan was expecting the same cooperation for the 2024 elections as well but Revanth Reddy came out of the syllabus.
After the results were out, the YSR Congress cadre tried to paint a different picture of Revanth. They owned him saying that he is a Reddy and will obviously stay on good terms with the YSR Congress for the community’s sake.
Chandrababu not attending Revanth Reddy’s swearing ceremony and TDP not owning Revanth Reddy publicly gave them more confidence.
But Revanth Reddy’s interview with ABN Radhakrishna crashed all their hopes.
Revanth Reddy mentioned how Jagan did not even make a courtesy call to him to wish him after becoming the Chief Minister.
He also spoke about Rajasekhara Reddy in a tone that would not be liked by the YSR Congress cadre.
He openly divulged that he would interfere in Andhra Pradesh elections. Even though he says it is for the Congress party, we can easily read between the lines.
Revanth Reddy also made his stand towards Jagan clear saying that the latter wants KCR in Telangana. Obviously, Revanth would not risk someone like Jagan in power when he faces the next election in Telangana.
So, it is clear that Revanth Reddy will do everything to defeat Jagan Mohan Reddy in the coming election and this is bad news definitely for the YSR Congress which looks like in shambles already.
