Revanth Reddy’s Government going after the 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli has become a Hot Topic in Telangana Politics right now.
The students of the Hyderabad Central University are claiming that the Government is encroaching on their University land and are demanding that the city’s vital lung space should not be destroyed.
There are some shocking visuals of the JCBs uprooting the trees in the dense land, which resembles a forest.
In some videos, we can see the cries of deer and peacocks in panic (We can not ascertain if they are doctored videos).
But it is a fact that these lands are home to some rare flora and fauna.
Meanwhile, the Government claims it is the Government land and the University is not connected to it.
Leaving aside the land ownership, even common people are not happy with this decision of the Government. But Revanth Reddy has taken that seriously and looks like would not back out.
Some people are spelling doom for Revanth Reddy on this issue.
“Revanth Reddy’s downfall started with HYDRAA. And this is the final nail in the coffin,” they are saying.
Some others say these are small things, and Public memory is too short to remember these things until the election.
It is true that small things like this would not be deciding factors in changing Governments, but they do contribute to the overall anti-incumbency on a Government.
The best example of this is the Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh.
Jagan shaved off the hill to build a huge palace for his wife. Jagan thought it was a small issue, but people remembered it.
It is all up to the Opposition to keep the issue fresh in the Public memory, and these things would definitely play a part.
TDP was successful in that, and if the BRS and BJP were able to do that, it would be a problem for Revanth Reddy.
Unless the Courts or the NGT interfere, Revanth Reddy would not back off from this decision.
The Government is unlikely to give up on a land in the Prime area as its sale would fund its freebies.
It maybe wise if the protestors demand and achieve a sustainable development with lots of Green Spaces instead of totally getting invested in stalling this project which is very unlikely.
