Former YCP leader and ex-Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, along with his wife Vani and son Venkata Srirama Chiranjeevi Nag, has gone missing after being named the primary accused in a massive ₹4 crore land-grabbing scam in Srikakulam.
The investigation revealed an elaborate fraud where the group created forged documents declaring a living landowner deceased, then introduced an unrelated woman from Odisha as the sole legal heir to illegally occupy prime property in the Balaga area.
The escape unfolded around 3:00 AM on Monday from their rented residence in Amadalavalasa. Anticipating imminent arrest following the remand of eight co-conspirators, the family deliberately left behind their personal vehicles and mobile phones to evade tracking, fleeing instead in a hired private vehicle.
Special police squads have been deployed to trace their whereabouts, while authorities are also probing additional allegations of past land encroachments involving the family during their tenure.
