In a first-of-its-kind move, Telangana Police have equipped their arsenal with equipment that can deliver drug test results in 5 minutes. The newly introduced method has come to full-scale implementation now.
Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau has announced that they have started to use ABON(Urinal tests) to identify drug users.
Using these testers, the police can identify if the subject has used any of the 19 types of drugs it can detect. There is another equipment that can detect if the subject has used 7 types of drugs.
The testers were used on multiple individuals already and 9 of these drug tests resulted in positive results.
The bureau has mentioned that until now, the drug detection tests through urinal and saliva samples used to take several days but that won’t be the case anymore as the new testers will provide results in under 5 minutes.
CM Revanth Reddy had already mentioned that the government of Telangana will go extremely hard against drug peddling and vowed to make Hyderabad a drug-free city. This new equipment will play an important role in the same.
