The Statues of Telugu Icons standing tall on Tank Bund for over three decades are finally going to get the facelift. Several of the statues are in depleted condition over the years and finally, GHMC is taking these works spending 7 Lakhs.

All the works are expected to be completed by April Second Week. Out of 33 statues installed over three decades ago by the then United Andhra Pradesh Chief minister late N T Rama Rao, 12 statues were re-installed in 2012 after they were vandalized by Telangana activists during the Million March in March 2011.
After the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party came to power, another statue belonging to Komuram Bheem was also installed, pushing the number of statues to 34. On the other side, there are proposals that a few other statues of Telangana Icons should be put up.
