In today’s world, the solution to every problem is to create an app to help with it. At present, in another attempt of moral policing, BHU has come up with an app to curb the use of porn and other unwanted sites. This app titled ‘Har Har Mahadev’ was created by Banaras Hindu University professor Vijaynath Mishra who works in the neurology department of Institute of Medical Sciences at BHU along with some students of the university.

This app has caught the eye of so many because of its uniqueness. The ‘Har Har Mahadev’ app blocks the porn sites on the downloader’s cell phone like any other such app but instead plays a bhajan every time any such sites are attempted to be opened. The students working alongside Mishra on this app were research scholars Akanksha Srivastav and Smriti Singh, developer Ankit Shrivastav, and journalists Ankit and Aman.
The app has a capacity of blocking 3800 such sites and took over six months to develop. The creators are looking forward to adding features such as the choice of selecting a religion and playing the bhajan based on that choice.
