In Sana Rudravaram village, Kaikaluru district, miscreants vandalised the statues of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga on Friday night, reportedly smearing them with cow dung.
Following the incident, Radha Ranga Mitramandali expressed anger and demanded that the culprits be identified and punished.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also condemned the act, calling it cowardly and stating that those responsible must face strict action. He said such incidents could inflame caste tensions and disrupt law and order in the state.
Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, a prominent leader from the Kapu community, continues to hold a revered status even four decades after his death.
The CM instructed authorities that vandalising statues of leaders will not be tolerated and ordered immediate identification and punishment of the offenders.
