The Tamil and Telugu groups on social media have countless reasons to quarrel amongst themselves almost on a daily basis. Some days it is Tamil cinema versus Telugu Cinema, which is setting the discourse and on IPL days, it is Chennai versus Hyderabad.
Another new reason is said to be added to this phenomenon, and this has something to do with the political landscape.
Considering the fact that Tamil star Thalapathy Vijay is contesting the Tamil Nadu assembly election, the electoral outcome is going to be watched with close interest by cinema followers as well.
In case Thalapathy Vijay ends up winning a significant number of seats, his fans will ultimately aim at Pawan Kalyan’s fans by referring to the numbers posted by TVK and comparing to JSP’s first term.
There is already an existing conflict where there are several social media posts about how Vijay made a film career by remaking Mahesh Babu’s films and survived in politics by using the tactics and visual elements set in motion by Pawan Kalyan. Vijay’s fans are agitated by the same and they’re patiently waiting for the poll results before they explode.
And at the same time, if the TVK drastically underperformed and Vijay himself ends up losing both the constituencies, he will face the brunt of the attack for all the provocations made by his fans in recent times.
The big explosion is ticking to happen on May 4 when the Assembly election results will be out, and this will immediately trigger a big war between Telugu and Tamil social media groups.
