For the past several decades, tens of Indian film actors have entered politics and tested their luck. The new member to this already huge list is Tamil actor Vijay Thalapathy. His recently launched TVK party is contesting its first assembly election in Tamil Nadu and it has created a big discourse already.
In the latest set of pictures from the election campaign of Vijay, we get to see massive crowd that have turned up to watch him live in action. This has been particularly relevant over the last couple of days as Vijay is showing his strength amongst the masses.
But these crowds did not be calculated as electoral mood or potential voting trends of Tamil Nadu public.
The question here is whether the massive crowds are gathering to watch Vijay, the cinema superstar, or whether they’re actually coming forward to encourage Vijay as a politician. The answer to this question will determine the electoral outcome for Vijay and his party.
Till now, all the opinion polls have said, Vijay might not have too much of an impact in Tamil Nadu in terms of MLA seat as he could be settling for less than 15 at best. The projected vote share for him is around 15% as well. If he can deliver any better than it is good for him and his party.
Political experts are committing that Vijay must take it slow and easy as it is impossible to win the first election itself, but if he sustains for a few years, his party might get a better reception sometime in the future.
