In this year’s JEE Advanced Entrance Test, Vijayawada-resident Maruthi Pruthvi Satyadev secured 170th rank. However, he faced difficulty while uploading his inter certificate.

For many years, the intermediate board has been just giving a letter “E” (Exemption) for specially-abled students in the subjects they have been given exemption.

When Maruthi Pruthvi Satyadev uploaded his intermediate certificate online for document verification, the JEE didn’t accept it saying that it was ineligible as the memo featured only four subjects and they would consider both Maths A and Maths B as one subject.

As per his rank, Satyadev was supposed to get a seat in IIT Madras. When he contacted IIT Madras for the reason behind not accepting his certificate, the management told him that they would consider the certificate if the column beside the second language had marks instead of the letter “E”.

Satyadev took the matter to Education Minister Nara Lokesh’s notice through WhatsApp. Immediately, Lokesh responded and ordered officials to take measures to prevent causing such difficulties for students in future.

Additionally, Lokesh helped around 25 specially-abled students to get seats in IITs and NITs across the country.

He would appreciate those students at his Undavalli residence tomorrow for securing admissions to such prestigious institutions.
