Hindupur is one of the key constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and it marks great prominence in Telugu states politics. Nandamuri Balakrishna holds fort in this constituency.
Now, YSRCP members in Hindupur have held a public event today, demanding the party chief YS Jagan to contest from here. They want Jagan to contest against Balakrishna here.
YSRC Hindupur leader Naresh has stated that it is time for Jagan to put an end to group politics and contest from Hindupur by himself.
This comes amidst rumors that YCP could be fielding Deepika, a claimed BC leader who is the wife of local tier 2 YCP leader Venugopal Reddy.
The idea could be to attract the BC voters in Hindupur. But TDP troops locally allege she will inherit the caste of her husband and cannot be regarded as a BC candidate.
The demand to Jagan to take on Balakrishna in Hindupur sounds outlandish as this has been a fortress for TDP for many years. It is too much to ask, fairly speaking.
