Counter to Pawan’s Hindi Peddamma Comment

Telangana writer Nandini Sidda Reddy

Well-known Telangana writer Nandini Sidda Reddy gave a counter to Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s comments. Pawan Kalyan had said at a meeting that there was nothing wrong with learning or speaking Hindi.

He went on to say that if Telugu language was amma, then Hindi was peddamma. He further said that if one can do business with Hindi belt, what’s wrong in learning their language?

Well, the comments didn’t go down well with those who are not just ardent fans of the language, but also know the historical significance of Telugu.

Nandini Sidda Reddy is one such man. He said Pawan Kalyan was speaking purely to please his alliance partners. Reddy pointed out that Telugu was a 2000-yr-old language and that Hindi was a 700-yr-old language.

So, if one takes age into consideration, is Telugu amma or peddamma, said the writer. People like Pawan Kalyan want to impose Hindi on us for the sake of his political equations.

He needs to know history to understand that Telugu is the peddamma. Today, Telugu is recognized as an ancient language. But Hindi is not, as it’s a young language. Should we keep quiet if Pawan Kalyan fails to call Telugu peddamma, asked Sidda Reddy.
