Ranjit Sinha’s two year work as CBI director came to an end and a three member committee lead by Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India H L Dattu and the Congress party’s head in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge will be meeting today to select a new director for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
There were several allegations on Ranjit Sinha during his tenure and he faced severe criticism from Supreme Court for his mishandling on 2G and Coal scams. Responding to media on his last day he said, “You can write whatever you want, you have already thrown enough dirt on me. I think I have done no good work, said Mr. Sinha.”
There were four names in consideration for the new CBI director’s post and we will find out today who will be taking the key position at CBI. The following are the four individuals being considered.
K S Balasubramanian – Currently working as Police Chief in Kerala
Prakash Mishra – IPS from Odisha
Sharad Kumar – director-general of the NIA
Anil Sinha, a Bihar-cadre officer, currently special director in CBI
