17 Killed In Thane During ConstructionOn Tuesday, people living in Thane witnessed a catastrophic accident when a girder launching machine, which is used in the construction of bridges, fell on an under-construction area of the Samruddhi expressway in Thane.

The incident took place at around midnight, and the rescue team was informed at 1 AM that the girder machine connecting the bridge slab had fallen from a height of 100 feet, resulting in the tragic loss of 17 lives and leaving many others injured. By 5 AM, the NDRF team arrived for assistance and began the ongoing rescue operation.

The incident has left everyone shocked, and even Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde expressed his grief over the matter. The government ordered to provide a sum of 5 lakh rupees to the family of the deceased.

The construction of Samruddhi Marg was carried out by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. The first two phases were completed, and this accident occurred during the third phase, which was scheduled to be completed by December 2023. The exact reason behind this devastating accident is not yet known.
