Heartbroken after her love was rejected, a Bengaluru-based software engineer sought revenge in a shocking way. She created fake email accounts using her ex-boyfriend’s name and sent hoax bomb threat emails to schools and colleges.
The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Renee Joshilda, a B-Tech graduate working in a private firm. She reportedly used Gujarat as the base location while sending the threat mails. North Bengaluru police arrested her and placed her in custody.
According to officials, Renee sent fake bomb threat emails mentioning Narendra Modi Stadium and six other schools and colleges in Bengaluru. She had already been arrested once by Gujarat police but continued her actions after being released.
Following a warrant, Bengaluru police brought her back to the city for further questioning. During interrogation, Renee admitted to sending the hoax mails, believing her ex-boyfriend would be blamed and jailed for the threats.
The city was shaken on June 14 when one of her emails created panic across Bengaluru. The case is being investigated by the North Division Cyber Crime Police, who are gathering more evidence and tracking all the accounts linked to the hoax.Details were divulged during a press conference on Friday.
