A video has received a lot of attention on the internet for the wrong reasons. It shows an officer dumping water on people sleeping on a Pune train platform. On Friday, Twitter user Rupen Chowdhury tweeted the footage.
The video shows a member of the Government Rail Police (GRP) splashing water on individuals sleeping on a train platform. “Rest in peace, humanity.” “Pune Railway Station,” states the video caption.
The video has received over 2 million views since it was shared. The video has also piqued the interest of Pune’s Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Indu Dubey. She expressed her heartfelt remorse about the situation.
“Sleeping on the Platform causes inconvenience to others, but the manner in which it was handled is not an appropriate method of counseling passengers,” Ms. Dubey remarked in response to the footage. “Concerned staff has been appropriately advised to treat passengers with dignity, politeness, and decency.” “I deeply regret this incident,” she continued.
Netizens attacked the manner in which sleeping people were treated in this video. Some people, though, supported the officers. “The government should build more waiting areas so people don’t have to sleep on the platforms, and yes, trains should run on time,” one person remarked.
