The Congress party accused the ruling BJP of turning law enforcement officials into threats rather than protectors. The party questioned how ordinary citizens can feel safe when officers in uniform speak and behave in such a manner.
According to the woman, she had approached the police with a complaint when the misconduct took place. Recognizing the seriousness of the matter after the video went public, senior police officials acted swiftly.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patil confirmed that Vimal Kumar has been removed from active duty and sent to police lines, a routine disciplinary measure.
The incident adds to a growing list of concerns about police behavior towards citizens, especially women. Public trust in law enforcement is severely affected when such incidents occur, particularly when the abuse comes from officers in positions of authority.
