Food Inspector: Drains Reservoir for Lost Mobile Phone!

Rajesh Vishwas Drains ReservoirIn a shocking display of abuse of power, a food inspector in Chhattisgarh has been suspended after he allegedly drained a reservoir in his desperate search for a lost mobile phone. The incident, which occurred on May 21, 2023, has sparked outrage and highlighted the corrupt practices of officials and politicians.

Rajesh Vishwas, the food inspector in question, had ventured to the Paralkot reservoir with his friends when he accidentally dropped his prized possession, a Samsung Galaxy S23 worth over ₹1 lakh, into the water. Fueled by a sense of entitlement, Vishwas resorted to extreme measures to retrieve his phone, contacting the irrigation department and demanding that the reservoir be drained.

Unwilling to accept defeat, Vishwas took matters into his own hands, employing two powerful diesel pumps to remove water from the reservoir. For three days straight, these pumps ran incessantly, draining a staggering 21 lakh liters of water. To put this into perspective, that volume of water could have been used to irrigate 1,500 acres of parched fields in Chhattisgarh, providing much-needed relief to the struggling agricultural sector.

The audacious act caught the attention of the Irrigation and Water Resource Department after receiving a complaint. An officer was dispatched to investigate the unauthorized draining of the reservoir, and although the operation was promptly halted, the damage had already been done. The water level had dropped by six feet, leaving behind a wasteful spectacle and causing significant disruption to the ecosystem.

Vishwas defended his actions by claiming that his phone contained vital departmental data that needed to be recovered. However, his flimsy justification only serves to underscore the alarming trend of officials exploiting state machinery and government resources for personal gain.

This incident is just another glaring example of how even a hint of power can corrupt individuals and lead them to act in a high-handed manner. It is disheartening to witness public servants prioritize their personal belongings over the welfare of the people they are meant to serve.

Sadly, such instances of misuse of authority are not isolated. We have witnessed athletes being sidelined to accommodate the whims of senior bureaucrats’ pet dogs and police forces mobilized to search for stolen jackfruit and missing buffaloes. These episodes paint a distressing picture of a system plagued by self-serving individuals who prioritize their own desires above the needs of the citizens.

As the public demands greater accountability and transparency, it is crucial that these incidents are met with swift and decisive action. The suspension of Rajesh Vishwas sends a message that such abuses of power will not be tolerated. However, it is imperative that this serves as a wake-up call for both the authorities and the general public to remain vigilant and hold those in power accountable for their actions.

In a society striving for progress and fairness, the actions of a few should not tarnish the reputation of the entire system. By actively addressing such misconduct and fostering a culture of integrity, we can begin to restore faith in our institutions and ensure that power is used responsibly for the betterment of society as a whole.
