A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her former partner at a private company in Sector 66, Mohali, Punjab, on Thursday evening.
The victim, identified as Dimple, had been working at a packers and movers company for nearly three years. The accused, Harvinder Mann alias Harry, was also employed at the same firm.
According to police, the two were previously in a relationship but had separated around six months ago. Investigators believe Harvinder had been trying to reconnect, while Dimple had moved on.
Police said Harvinder arrived at the office on Thursday evening, where an argument reportedly broke out between the two. During the confrontation, he allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing multiple injuries.
The incident created panic among employees present at the workplace.
After the attack, the accused allegedly attempted suicide using the same weapon. Police rushed both individuals to a nearby hospital after receiving information from office staff.
Doctors declared Dimple dead on arrival, while Harvinder remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police have registered a case and are recording statements from employees as part of the investigation.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over relationship-related violence and workplace safety.
