HDFC Bank dismissed one of its top employees in Kolkata on Monday after a video of him reportedly cursing his coworkers during an internal meeting over a video conference went viral on social media. The official can be heard in the video yelling at his colleagues in Bengali for not selling enough banking goods and insurance policies.
“In the last two days, how many savings and current accounts have you opened?” In the video, the now-suspended employee can be heard yelling violently at his subordinates, “Tell me.” He then yelled again and confronted another employee, stating, “You were supposed to open 15, but you have only opened 5.”
The video, which was submitted by a Twitter user, received a lot of attention and was extensively shared on the network.
In response to the tweet, HDFC’s service manager, Ajay, stated that the “concerned employee has been suspended and a thorough investigation has begun.” Meanwhile, numerous viewers started a discussion on harmful working cultures in the video.
“Having worked under him up close, I can confirm this is him on his mellow side,” one person who claimed to have worked under the suspended employee stated. Many people will find that statement absurd, yet it is true.”
#HDFC bank’s Manager Mr. Pushpal Roy. Employees were treated in an unprofessional way. I would have given back right there. Not sure why & how employees are tolerating. He is completely demoralised and done blatant attacked on employees. Should be fired !
