Himachal Pradesh is one of the first choice tourist destinations for a lot of people in India. The snow clad mountain tops and pristine rivers make the state a must have experience. But it looks like not everyone is happy about the tourists who flock in every season to the state. A local resident took to Twitter to rant about what tourism is doing to Himachal and why they don’t need it.
The man who looks completely frustrated because of tourists said that the state doesn’t need tourists because in the name of tourists they have only ‘unmarried couples and druggists’. According to him the state is losing its heritage because of it. He wants the government to make a restriction on the number of tourists that enter the state in a season.
Himachal suffered huge loss to life and property due to heavy rains in the past days and this has upset the people who blame tourism to be a reason for the rising ecological problems. The man also raised the issue of animal exploitation and damage caused to nature because of tourists. According to him, the local residents can’t find any peaceful place because of the rush.
I am from Himachal. I am saying this:
1. We don't need tourists. On the name of tourists we have Unmarried Couples or Druggists.
2. We need to protect our heritage.
3. You want to uplift people, impart skills other than opening a hotel on loan in an unsafe location.
