Fake Groom Morphs Photos, Demands Rs 10 L

Hyderabad fake groom blackmail case

In a shocking case from Alwal, Hyderabad, technology meant to improve lives was misused for exploitation. A man posing as a groom allegedly blackmailed a young woman by morphing her pictures and audios, demanding ₹10 lakh.

The accused, identified as Ravi alias Rafi, befriended the woman at a gym and secretly installed a tracking device in her car. He then created morphed content of her and uploaded it on social media platforms. Along with his brother Rupesh, he uploaded fake images and audios on YouTube to pressurize the victim into paying money.

The victim, refusing to bow to the threats, lodged a police complaint. Investigations revealed that Ravi had previously married three women before targeting this victim. Following her report, other women who were deceived by Ravi also approached the police with similar complaints.

Police have since arrested Ravi and Rupesh and are investigating the full extent of their activities. Authorities have urged women to immediately report such cases of morphing, cyber harassment, and blackmail instead of succumbing to pressure, as early complaints can help prevent further damage.
