A shocking case has emerged from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, where a 24-year-old MBA student named Piyush Dhamnotiya has been accused of murdering his girlfriend. Police allege the crime involved sexual assault, strangulation, and acts of necrophilia inside his rented accommodation.
The victim was a first-year MBA student studying at an institute in Indore. She left her home on the day of the incident but did not return. Her family reported her missing after losing contact with her.
Two days later, police recovered her body from Piyush’s residence in Indore. The body was found naked and in an advanced state of decomposition. The discovery confirmed fears that she had been killed shortly after she went missing.
Rope marks were visible around her neck, indicating strangulation. A preliminary medical examination estimated the time of death to be around three days earlier. This timeline matched the day she was last seen leaving her house.
Police allege that Dhamnotiya pressured the woman for sex, which she refused, citing illness. Investigators claim he then sexually assaulted her. The assault reportedly took place inside the apartment where the body was later found.
According to police, he tied her hands and feet using ropes available in the room and blindfolded her. He allegedly told her he wanted to give her a gift. When she resisted again, the situation reportedly turned violent.
Police claim he stuffed cloth into her mouth and sat on her chest, choking her until she lost consciousness. After realising she had stopped breathing, he allegedly stabbed her near the chest with such force that the blade broke.
Investigators further allege that he stayed in the room after the killing. He reportedly went out to buy beer, returned, and drank beside the body. During questioning, police say he admitted to sexually assaulting the body before fleeing.
Police also revealed that 11 objectionable videos were circulated using the victim’s phone. These were shared in a college WhatsApp group, posted on her WhatsApp status, and sent to her contacts, causing panic among acquaintances.
According to police, Dhamnotiya later travelled to a secluded area in Panvel. He allegedly lit incense sticks, watched YouTube videos on summoning spirits, and attempted what investigators described as black magic rituals.
After the incident, a video of Dhamnotiya being questioned by journalists went viral online. He was heard saying people should let it go and that it was over. Many viewers expressed outrage, noting his apparent lack of remorse.
