That too right in the middle of his own tehrvi. Khunti Guru, a resident of Zero Road, had been declared dead after the January 29 stampede. But instead of meeting his maker, he was just chilling with sadhus, smoking chillums.

Guru had left for a dip at the Sangam on Mauni Amavasya, but when the stampede happened, he vanished. With no trace of him, his neighbors concluded he had attained moksha.

Social worker Abhai Awasthi recalled Guru leaving the evening before the stampede. When he didn’t return, assumptions flew faster than WhatsApp forwards. The irony? The man at the center of it all had no idea his soul had been sent off with proper rituals.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the January 29 stampede claimed 30 lives and injured 60. UP CM Yogi Adityanath admitted crowd control became overwhelming as thousands surged toward the Sangam.

As for Guru, he not only returned from the ‘dead’ but also got an early preview of his own memorial service. Free food, emotional tributes, and a dramatic homecoming. Now that’s a story for the ages!
