Issuing a fake certificate to secure government jobs is not a naive practice, especially in the state of Chhattisgarh, where protests are gaining momentum.
On the 18th of July, people from the SC/ST caste in Raipur held a protest in which they appeared completely naked, demanding action against those who obtained jobs using fake caste certificates. Most of the protesters were SC/ST students who stripped themselves and ran behind VVIP vehicles, holding placards around their necks, calling for immediate action.
Earlier, they went on a hunger strike to seek action against individuals using fake certificates, but their demands went unheard. This compelled them to resort to naked protests, demanding the arrest of those who hold fake caste certificates and the seizure of their properties.
The demand for action against fake caste certificate holders started in 2021 when a PWD engineer was discovered to have obtained his job using a fake certificate. Since then, numerous protests have taken place against those employed with fake SC/ST certificates. Within a few hours, the protesters were taken into custody, and the protest was called off. However, by then, it had already garnered significant attention from passersby, and recordings and videos were circulated across all social media platforms.
